APRU students have an exclusive opportunity to apply their knowledge to critical policy challenges in the region, enhance their international experience and enrich their key competencies and leadership potential. In partnership with APRU member universities and external organizations such as the United Nations,  the Open Society University Network, and Cyberport Hong Kong, APRU offers activities which enable students to hone their ability to respond to global challenges.

With activities ranging from student competitions and interactive workshops to virtual courses and certificate programs, APRU gives students an opportunity to shape their talents and learning experiences on global health, crisis management, disaster risk reduction, esports, sustainability and climate change.

 

 

 

APRU Student Programs

ASIA PACIFIC OPEN DIALOGUES

Used as a pedagogical tool, Tecnólogico de Monterrey’s Vice-Rectory for International Affairs has used open dialogues as a tool to foster social intelligence abilities, students share virtual multicultural environments with students from other countries exchanging their views and learning from one another.

 

GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE SIMULATION

The APRU Student Global Climate Change Simulation is a role-playing exercise in which students will form multi-country, multi-disciplinary teams to play the role of delegates to the UN Climate Change Negotiations.

This program is co-organized by APRU Sustainable Cities and Landscapes Program housed at the University of Oregon and APRU Global Health Program housed at the University of Southern California.

 

GLOBAL SUSTAINABILITY: WASTE AND THE CITY

The “Global Sustainability: Waste and the City” is a 10-week seminar course that runs yearly since 2022, introducing graduate students to global sustainability concepts and applications from leading experts in academia and the industry.

 

SDG EDUCATION FOR GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP

The APRU SDG Education for Global Citizenship (APRU SDG4GC) is an intercultural, transdisciplinary, and interactive program that fosters global citizenship among students from 60 universities in 20 economies across the Pacific Rim. Co-designed by six core-partner universities in collaboration with the United Nations (UN), the program builds knowledge of global issues and global literacy among students. This is achieved through learning about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), exploring in-depth some of the world’s biggest challenges, and proposing solutions using a framework for collaborative development of social innovation prototypes.

 

 

UNDERGRADUATE LEADERS’ PROGRAM

The Undergraduate Leaders’ Program (ULP) supports emerging undergraduate leaders in becoming real-world change makers by driving awareness, action, and change, supporting them in their academic and personal goals. By providing cultural exchange experiences and unique learning opportunities, APRU seeks to equip the next generation of leaders with the skills they need to contribute to positive change for the betterment of societies worldwide.

 

VIRTUAL STUDENT EXCHANGE

The APRU Virtual Student Exchange (VSE) Program, led by The Chinese University of Hong Kong, makes international education accessible by allowing students to take academic courses and participate in co-curricular programs without the need to leave home. It opens up international education for all students by providing an immersive virtual student exchange experience through digital technologies and platforms and creating encounters with new ideas, cultures, experts, academics and students from around the world.
