Biodiversity & Pacific Ocean

Asia and the Pacific region is exceptionally rich in biodiversity featuring some of the world most unique regions including tropical forests, alpine environments and the reefs of the ‘coral triangle’. However the region is also recording the highest number of threatened species, is impacted by shrinking natural habitats and overexploitation of marine resources.

Provosts Forum

The Provosts Forum brings together APRU Provosts or Chief Academic Officers. As key drivers of academic strategy and output, Provosts discuss topics of collective interest and importance to their respective institutions. Through this forum, APRU expands the leadership networks within the consortia beyond presidents and senior staff, and addresses major issues of academic management such as the quality assurance of education and research, and academic personnel.

Undergraduate Leaders’ Program

The Undergraduate Leaders’ Program (ULP) supports emerging undergraduate leaders in becoming real-world change makers by driving awareness, action, and change, supporting them in their academic and personal goals. By providing cultural exchange experiences and unique learning opportunities, APRU seeks to equip the next generation of leaders with the skills they need to contribute to positive change for the betterment of societies worldwide.

I had a great time working on the art piece for the APRU competition. It provided me with a lot of inspiration and motivation during a time where it was very difficult for me to draw. I feel more connected to the global community of esports-interested students, and it encourages me to pursue my goals within the industry. I hope to participate in more APRU events again in the future!

It was a privilege for me to participate in the conference, sharing my academic vision and personal experience as a former national policy maker and now a president of a higher education institute. I think we have a lot to learn from and contribute to APRU.

Governments are encouraged to invest in promoting AI solutions and skills that bring greater social good and help us “build back better” as we recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

APRU’s large network of researchers, policymakers, and private sector representatives in the Asia-Pacific region makes it the ideal partner for us to jointly explore opportunities for collaborative research, joint projects, education and training, talent development, and academic exchanges, as well as technology transfer and innovation.

The Becoming a Global Learner course was absolutely amazing! The fact that students from so many APRU universities were able to find camaraderie and learn from each other just goes to show how enriching this program was. The excellent guidance from the leaders of UC Davis helped me gain skills that I have already started applying to both my academic and personal life, helping me become a more culturally conscientious person.

Get Down is a song that combines dancy, hopeful music and reflective lyrics about the happenings right now. We hope to present an honest yet playful version of the world, inside which people acknowledge the flaws of the society but remain optimistic for a brighter future.

Today I realized that the community of people at this fellowship is amazing. Despite the troubles or questions we face, we are confident that with such strong support, we can deal with it.

Thanks so much to Yesports and APRU for hosting this amazing initiative! I believe that the increased involvement of Esports within our educational institutions is a strong step forward in popularizing Esports as an industry, legitimizing it as a career path, and integrating it as part of our modern-day culture.

As a mentee in the APWiL Mentoring Program, I have been encouraged to lead efforts at my own university to address gender equity. Earlier this year, we organized a summit for female researchers, students, and staff with great success. With virtual participation of my mentor, Prof. Stephen Tillman, The University of Sydney, and APWiL Co-Chair, Prof. Joanna Regulska, UC Davis, we highlighted strategies to address gender equality and diversity. The connections I have built through the APRU APWiL Mentoring Program has been invaluable to me and to my university.

The APRU SWM Program fosters research connections and information sharing on a truly important and timely regional and global challenge.
