From computer science, big data to robotics and AI, technology is changing faster than ever before. We are in the midst of a revolution that transforms the way we live, work, and relate to one another. Perhaps in no other area is it more essential for APRU members to bring their research and knowledge capabilities than in the realm of the Digital Economy.
APRU strives to help governments make informed decisions, and support companies at the forefront of these technologies navigate through the moral and ethical questions and implications. AI offers the possibility of providing a myriad of technological solutions to today’s complex challenges in achieving Agenda 2030 for sustainable development and can help societies “build back better” as they recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In response to these opportunities APRU has been working in partnership with United Nations ESCAP and Google.org to mobilize the intellectual resources of key universities in the Asia-Pacific to positively influence the Digital Economy agenda and its governance and to support, advance and maximize AI for Social Good.
