LEAD UNIVERSITY
Asia Pacific Open Dialogues

Since 2019, Tecnológico de Monterrey´s Center for Recognition of Human Dignity has used open dialogue exercises to highlight the importance of diversity, equity and inclusivity. Open dialogue exercises build upon Sustained Dialogue*, a change-making process that focuses on improving relationships across differences. It encourages meaningful conversations among individuals framed around relevant issues, to increase their understanding of their similarities and differences.

In 2020 the Global Shared Learning initiative created virtual spaces where Latin American university communities have engaged in meaningful conversations addressing local and global issues. Used as a pedagogical tool, Tecnólogico de Monterrey has used open dialogues as a tool to foster social intelligence abilities, students share virtual multicultural environments with students from other countries exchanging their views and learning from one another.

* Sustained Dialogue (SD) was systematized by an American Diplomat (Dr. Harold Saunders) who participated in several peace negotiations in the Middle East in the 70s. His Sustained Dialogue methodology was founded on the experience and pattern observations of how peace negotiators’ relationships seemed to evolve throughout the conversion process.

Tecnológico de Monterrey has partnered with Verne Ventures to promote dialogue among its community following the guiding principles of the Sustained Dialogue Institute.
