The 17th APRU Global Health Conference 2024

The 17th APRU Global Health Conference 2024 will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on November 4 – 6, 2024.

The Conference is organized by the School of Global Health, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University in collaboration with the APRU Global Health Program. The theme of this year is “Harmonizing Human and Planetary Health Through Innovation, AI, and Digital Transformation.”

All sessions will be physically presented.

Dates: November 4 – 6, 2024

Call for Abstracts (Closed)

The conference welcomes submission of abstracts following the tracks including:

Track A: Harnessing digital transformation and artificial intelligence for health
Track B: Health financing, geopolitics, bioethics, and education
Track C: Climate Change, Pollution, and Planetary Health
Track D: Health Systems
Track E: Non-Communicable Diseases
Track F: Communicable Diseases
Track G: Others ……

The abstracts should adopt either one of the following structures with a maximum of 300 words

Lessons Learned Structure

  • Background: Statement of the issue
  • Description: Describe the project or initiative
  • Lessons Learned: Key insights gained from the project
  • Next Steps: Planned actions for the future based on project outcomes

Research Structure

  • Background: Statement of the issue or hypothesis
  • Objectives:
  • Materials and Methods: Description of study methodology, including statistical analyses
  • Results: Presentation of study findings
  • Conclusions: Summary of findings supported by results

The abstracts will be reviewed by an international review panel and the Conference Organizing Committee. Abstracts will be scored by indicators including global health significance, impact, novelty, appropriateness of methods, presentation for results, and overall clarity.

The highest-scoring abstracts will be selected for oral presentation in sessions or as posters to be displayed on the website and on-site.

The 10th Annual APRU Global Health Student Poster Contest 2024

Current full-time undergraduate and graduate students (including medical students) from any university are invited to submit an academic poster along with an abstract of 150 words related to broadly global health for the 2024 contest. Post-doctoral students are not eligible. Collaborative poster presentations are acceptable but the student must be the first author, and only one submission per student. A prize of $500 US will be awarded for the best undergraduate and best graduate posters (one in each category)

Results

This year, we had students from 20 universities in 12 economies (Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and United Arab Emirates) participate. Three finalists in each category have been selected.

The first place winner in each category will be announced at the APRU Global Health Conference 2024 at Chulalongkorn University during November 4–6. They will each receive a prize of US$500. All posters will be displayed there.

The 9th Annual APRU Global Health Virtual Case Competition 2024

For this international, virtual competition, teams of 3-6 students will receive a challenge relating to a pressing global health problem. Teams will be given up to 12 weeks to prepare a video of up to 10 minutes in English proposing a realistic, well-designed, innovative solution to the challenge. Teams will save their videos on YouTube or Vimeo and submit the link via email for judging by an international panel of APRU Global Health Program members and other global expert judges.

Three videos will be chosen by an international panel of judges for the final round, which will be held as part of our APRU Global Health Conference 2024 (November 4-6, 2024, Bangkok). The winning team will be announced at the conference and a prize of US$1,000 will be awarded.
